Hello Bill, I replied to this 2 years ago but figured I would toss in my additional 2 cents.
I think it’s a valid concern for many in the secular community. Just as you will have people in the program who will praise god, you will have those who will feel out of place because… let’s face it, they don’t believe in the god concept. These people also should be able to speak freely about their lack of belief (as those who have a belief can speak freely). Perhaps they are looking for input how to replace the word “God” or “Higher Power” into something that works for them. Maybe all new members should get a hand out addressing that thought process.
My Higher Power (HP) is my mind. I can’t always focus on the straight and narrow but usually an appeal to my HP (Mind) does the trick :-)
